I was just doing some creative Googling to find information on an asylum in the East Village that is being converted into a hotel. I didn’t find what I was looking for, but I did find a bed & breakfast in the East Village called East Village Bed and Coffee.

It seems a little counterintuitive to me to have a bed & breakfast in the middle of NYC, but the images are cute and it got wildly good reviews on TripAdvisor. The rate is good (just over $100-ish), might be an interesting or fun field trip for when one is bored.
