A few of us were fortunate enough to spend last week shlepping through Mexico with our Mexican beer clients, Cervezeria Cuatemoc Moctezuma.  We thought we’d share some highlights of our adventure:

Three cities: Mexico City, Merida, Villerhmosa

Four new names/alter-egos: Guadalupe, Juanita, Vincente Fernandez Cortez, and Joaquin.

We met our new buddies from DDB, Mexico City.

We spoke to several tienda owners through iron gates.

We tried the vast majority of Mexican beers unavailable to us in the US. (except Nancy who is doing some lame sober thing)

We visited a whole load of very old cantinas. There, it’s worth mentioning, we also brought the only signs of female life that weren’t peddling a taste of the world’s oldest business.

We coated our stomachs with Pepto Bismal. (ok, really only Jared)

We ate mightily well, highlighted by a feast of pehelagarto.

We impressed our Mexican counterparts with a stomach for hot sauce and a temperament for tequila. (ok, really only Jess)

And most importantly, we had an amazing time with our intelligent, patient, and generous clients who put up with our questions, our requests, and our unending tendency to turn everything into a laugh track. (ok, mostly Paul)

Ahora, necesitamos estudiar nuestro espanol.

Stay tuned for our next chapter: Paul nearly acquired the piece de resistance for his wardrobe: a bedazzled water beetle (still alive!) complete with safety pin for fastening it to his lapel. Perfect for traditional Mayan celebrations and New York evenings out. No really, we’re not kidding. Paul almost bought a beetle pet for 260 Pesos.  Youtube to follow.
