		<description>I agree; I think that a lot of people fall into this trap of only looking within their own little universes for inspiration.   If you read a bunch of stuff that makes you feel compelled to compete (trade pubs, etc), I think it hinders your output.  
And if you consciously try to expose yourself to diverse things so your ideas will be better, that can be disappointing as well, because you&#039;re seeing these brand new things as a means to an end, and not simply appreciating them for what they are.  
I guess what I&#039;m trying to say is that while you can make a concerted effort to expose yourself to more diverse things, it won&#039;t really have a major effect on your thinking unless you truly appreciate them for what they are, not what they can do for your ideation. 
sorry, that was very theoretical.  I have a Harry Potter example to back this up, though.  

oh - and I read a lot of childrens books, because I love them, but I think if you want to break away from all the humdrum adult stuff, that&#039;s an easy start.  I&#039;m sure you read a lot of those too!</description>
