Nike SB movie premiere
On the 10.19, I headed uptown with some friends to check out the premiere of the Nike SB movie, Nothing But The Truth. I didn’t really think it was all that. I’ve seen better skate parts for a lot of those guys. So the movie was like this. The skaters were taken to an abondoned town kind of like that TV show Kid Nation. It was like an open source movie. The skaters were given the foundation like space to shoot, endless amount of props, cameras, sound, a backend team of directors, cameramen, producers etc. and given the task to create their own movie. Thing is, the movie is all about them making a movie, but we never get to see the movie! Instead, we got a load of skits and skate parts in between. This lead me to believe that maybe Nike has planned something bigger and better for the future, like a sequel where we get to see the finished product, and also better footage from all of the skaters. They probably have a lot of footage stored away. After speaking with other people who had seen the movie as well, the overall consensus lead me to believe that no one seemed to love it either. Everyone thought the movie was just ok. “I was over those skits. I just wanted to see more skateboarding.” “The skating was ok. I’ve seen better skate movies.” But on the other hand, Nike delivered with the event. It was a sick theatre uptown (Ziegfeld) and they brought out a lot of good people. There was free popcorn, Nike branded chocolate (not bad), candy and soda. And as this was no regular movie outting, you know dudes in there were acting a fool when the lights turned off. I had a great time, just check out the movie below. See for yourself.

Yo, I was there, too. I liked it okay - but yeah, the candy was pretty much the most rad part!
Cara,
You are so right about the candy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone give candy and popcorn away like that….so much of it, such big portions. Taftcard would have loved it!!
I can’t believe both of your posts are about the candy. All I did the night of the show is tell people about the candy.
probably hard for a sport generalist brand to gain credibility into such a core/addict sport… I wish i could have had candies but i live in Paris!
