Nothing like homemade.

Yesterday, Paul (with the help of Kate) used the leftover apples from his orchard to make an apple pie for us from scratch. It was a great kind of day for it - newly cold(ish), rainy, people were talking about Halloween costumes, etc.

Before putting it into the oven:

While it was baking, the office smelled so cozy and delicious.

Just out of the oven, Woolmington’s own:

That pie was gone almost immediately. It wasn’t sickly sweet and smushy like most of the apple pies I’ve had. The crust was crispy and the apples inside were firm; the whole thing had the perfect tartness to it. We ate it with Häagen-Dazs vanilla yogurt. Finally it feels like fall.

Whatever. I bet in Lichtenstein they serve creme fraiche covered in 24-carat gold leaf and topped with caviar for dessert everyday!
