Nothing like homemade.
Yesterday, Paul (with the help of Kate) used the leftover apples from his orchard to make an apple pie for us from scratch. It was a great kind of day for it - newly cold(ish), rainy, people were talking about Halloween costumes, etc.

That pie was gone almost immediately. It wasn’t sickly sweet and smushy like most of the apple pies I’ve had. The crust was crispy and the apples inside were firm; the whole thing had the perfect tartness to it. We ate it with Häagen-Dazs vanilla yogurt. Finally it feels like fall.
