exxxtra kinky
Sex sells. Again. Initial alarm turns to grudging admiration for Axe Vice's PR effort.
New York women are apparently the “third naughtiest ladies in the land” (L.A. and Miami beat us out.) “NYC’s Dirty Birds, Gals Exxxtra Kinky” ran in the NY Post on Monday: And who doesn’t like finding out that 4 in 10 New York women have “gone to a bar without wearing underwear.” (Though on second thought, that’s news to no one.)
Or that 6 in 10 have “hot hookups with a guy on the first date.” (If only I weren’t married — surely this represents an upswing in these statistics since I was single and looking?)
This is good stuff. But then you get to the part of the article that tells you where these numbers come from:
The survey was conducted by the Impulse Research Corporation for AXE Vice, makers of a popular body wash whose slogan is “turning naughty girls nice.”
Sneaky. It’s dirty like New York women. An entire article written in a reputable (cough) (oh who am I kidding — I love it) publication about Axe’s pseudo-research. Research that, conveniently, happens to underscore their brand’s positioning line.
On the other hand… nice job, Axe Vice. I read the article top to bottom. And not willing to stop at that, here I am perpetuating the story.
Mental note: be nicer to the PR people.
